Sigh…

Sidney-Crosby I can tell you all, it is VERY tough being an American fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins today. Sid, I love ya but you broke my heart yesterday. Watching that hockey game was one of the most entertaining sports experiences I have had–until the very end that is.

Congrats to Canada on a phenomenal game and a great win. They tried to give it to us a few times but the US just wouldn’t take it I guess. I have to admit that when we went to overtime, I said to myself “we are GOING to win this game! The stars are all lined up for us.” I guess not. As he has done so many times FOR my team, Sid the Kid proved that he’s the best player in hockey by answering the bell in a big game (for you Ovechkin fans, he’s a great player but you just can’t beat Sidney Crosby when it comes to playing under pressure. Can’t say that about Alex). This time it was against us, so now I know what it feels like to be a Wings fan or a Caps fan. I guess I should say I should be glad he’s a Pen, but to be honest it’s a little early for that. Not today.

Ah well, what can you do? Going into the game, we had nothing to lose and everything to gain–Team USA wasn’t supposed to get that far, and the big matchup for gold was supposed to be Canada/Russia. We were seeded 6th out of 12, and no one gave us much chance. Canada on the other hand was playing under so much pressure it was a lose-lose situation for them. Even winning the gold would garner nothing more for them than sighs of relief from their countrymen. They won and that was expected, even though they just did so BARELY. But, it’s a game of inches like anything else and they are the champs. Geno was happy last night at the Dub, decked out in full Canada regalia, so that was fun to see. If I was so sad at least he was happy.

God this is starting to sound so depressing! Gonna take me awhile to process this one…

I am looking forward to a full week though! I’m playing my solo gig at the Dubliner tomorrow night, Geno and I leave for a swing through Des Moines and Kansas City on Thursday, returning Sunday for a show at the Dub with Cody. If last night’s performance and crowd are any indication, that one’s gonna rock! We really had a great time last night. Helped get my mind off hockey for a little while.

Later Gators!

Adam
