Pete Hennig

Pete Hennig is an Appleton, Wisconsin native who joined the Bhoys as their drummer in 2008. He has a long list of educational and professional performance accolades to his credit.

He has two years private study with Nashville based session drummer Rick Brothers under his belt. He graduated from The McNally/Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in Music Performance, and in addition has had two years of private study with Twin Cities drummer Dave King, and studies continuously with New York based drummer Ari Hoenig.

Pete has performed with a veritable laundry list of artists from all across the musical spectrum, including Bruce Henry, Debbie Duncan, Billy Johnson, Wayne McFarlin, Les Exodus, Katie Gearty, Sophia Shorai, Arnie Fogel, John Starkey, and Sam Kuusisto.

When not performing with Wild Colonial Bhoys, Pete finds time for other musical endeavors. He currently gigs with The Atlantis Quartet, Ticklefight, The Fantastic Merlins, Andra Suchy, DJ Charlie Devanna, Dr. Lonnie Smith and New Primitives.

Well versed in many musical styles, Pete’s favorites include rock, jazz, reggae, funk, Latin, West African, country, and bluegrass.

His musical icons are John Bohnam, Steve Gadd, Steve Ferrone, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jeff Ballard, Ari Hoenig, Dave King, Bela Fleck, among others…

When asked about his career highlights (besides playing with the Bhoys, of course) Pete lists sharing the stage at Minneapolis’s Dakota Jazz Club with members of the Michael Buble Group as being right up there at the top. Pete has won one, and been nominated for three other Minnesota Music Awards (with the John Starkey Band in 2004). He has also had original compositions featured on Twin Cities radio stations 88.5 KBEM and 90.3 KFAI.

When not playing drums, Pete enjoys playing banjo, along with eating M&Ms.
