The album is done! Everything is out of our hands, and off at the duplication facility! We can’t tell you how excited we are that it is finally finished, and how pumped we are to have you hear it! So stoked in fact, that we’ve completely lost our minds and have decided to give you the tiniest of insight into what we’ve been up to… SO, how about a little preview?
Below is a sample of our first “single” (do they still even use that term?), “Friday Night”. We’re a Celtic rock band after all, and every album needs a good drinking song, so here you go… Click play and enjoy! Oh, and don’t forget–CD release on August 11th on Harriet Island, 7pm. Come get your copy!
It’s here, it’s here! WCB’s latest musical undertaking, “Heads or Tails” is nearing completion, and we are excited to (finally) announce our CD release!
The party will be happening on Harriet Island (grounds for the Irish Fair of MN), Thursday, August 11th, from 7-10pm. WCB will play two sets, and there will be some other Irish Fair-related stuff going on in addition. This is the big kick-off party for the IFOM, so it should be an excellent time! $20 at the door gets you in AND gets you FREE BEER–for the WHOLE TIME!! WOOHOO! OR you can save even MORE money by going to the Irish Fair website and buying a ticket in advance for just $15! A bargain at twice the price. Check out the graphic below for all the pertinent info. See you there!
The list of Irish festivals we are playing this summer has been finalized, and we are excited to announce it. We have a nice mix of festivals we’ve played before and new ones:
Iowa Irish Fest
Waterloo, IA
August 5-8
Irish Fair of Minnesota
St. Paul, MN
Thursday-Sunday, August 11-14 (keep checking in for details about Thursday–to be announced soon!)
Check out the website links above for festival info and specific set times. Irish festivals are the best–put one or two on your calendar if you’re in the area!
Hi all! We’ve been working hard in the studio, and can’t wait until you can hear the new album! The current release date will be sometime in late July or early August, so mark that on your calendar. The whole project will probably end up being a DOUBLE ALBUM! We have 17 tracks for you, including 11 “big band” songs, and 6 Adam and Geno acoustic favorites. So it’ll be a lot of bang for your buck. It doesn’t have a name yet, but once it does we’ll update you with that info. Keep checking back for updates!
Work has begun on our next album! It has been far too long, and we are really excited to finally be back recording some new material. We’ve got a bunch of new tunes, and our plan is to make the album primarily a full band effort, with some Adam/Geno duo stuff thrown in there as well! We’ve already gotten some great sounds down to “tape” (read: computer files), and are working with our buddy Greg Schutte in his awesome studio, Bathtub Shrine! That’s the back of Greg’s head in the pic… Keep checking in for updates–we’re going to do a video blog and the whole thing. We’ll keep working away, so look for the album to be done by late July!
No idea what Spongebob Squarepants has to do with an Catholic holiday, but there you go. The internet is full of interesting things. In any event, it’s about time we announced our St. Patrick’s Day schedule for 2011. As always, we look forward to green beer and slightly off-putting T-shirt slogans besmirching the homeland. ;o)
WCB SPD Schedule (all times on, you know, March 17)
1:45-2:20pm Landmark Center, St. Paul, MN as part of the Irish Music and Dance Association 30th Anniversary celebration
4:00pm-1:30am O’Donovan’s Irish Pub, Minneapolis, MN
WCB is proud to have been included in the lineup of A-list Minnesota artists on the Home for the Holidays A Minnesota Christmas Volume 2 CD compilation. This album benefits local charities for the holidays, and the first volume sold really well so we are expecting great things yet again! Click on the above link to buy your copy and listen to our original contribution “Santa See You Tonight”. The CD is also available at Minnesota Target stores, if you are more of a brick-and-mortar sort.
In support of the album, Geno and Adam will be doing an acoustic set at the Mall of America Rotunda this Saturday, so if you have decided to subject yourself to the complete and total chaos that will be the Mall this weekend, stop by from 12pm-1pm for a rest, a coffee and some WCB. We will be playing Santa See You Tonight and some other Christmas favorites! Come say hello.
Well folks, we did it. We successfully navigated the Emerald Isle with two busloads full of people, and I think we can safely say, we all had a fhantastic time!
The band played gigs in Galway, Killarney and Waterford and each show was better than the last. Each venue came right out and told us that they can’t wait for us to come back and play again–it was really something special. To those of you who went along–THANK YOU! Thank you for making this a truly unforgettable experience for us as a band. We sure hope you had as memorable time as we did. You guys rock. For a whole week WCB-mania reigned supreme in Ireland, and we can’t wait to go back in 2011! If you missed this one, we definitely want to give you a chance to make up for it, so… keep posted for details on a return trip! Also look to Adam’s Blog for a series of video updates from the road.
It’s Ireland time ladies and gents, and boy are we excited! If nothing else, our tour will allow us some time to get away from the 24/7 Brett Favre “will he, won’t he” weekly teledrama…
In all seriousness, we are really, really pumped. We have 65 people traveling with us for a week-long tour of the Emerald Isle, and the full band is ready to go! We have lofty aspirations, including video blogs and updates so keep checking back for the latest WCB gossip. We’re heading out on November 6 and are done with the tour on the 13th, although most of the band is staying on for various other destinations (Italy and Belfast are among them). We will see you all either in Ireland or when we get back to the USA!
